Horton Cottage, facing northwest, has beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and hills. It is named for Barbara Horton, co-founder of Dorland. With it's 1951 Steinway piano and writing table, it is well-suited to musicians, writers, and multi-disciplinary artists.

Horton Cottage has an open living and work area of about 17x13'. The living area features a the Steinway piano, leather easy chair, writing table, and cozy wood burning stove. Visual artists are welcome to use the wall space to hang works in progress. Easels, tarps, and extra tables are available by request.
The kitchen area to one side has a table, cupboards, full sized oven and refrigerator. A separate bedroom has a full-size bed, dresser, end table, and closet. The bathroom has a bath tub with shower, toilet and sink.
Horton Cottage has one window AC, WiFi, good cell phone reception, kitchen utensils, pots, pans, etc. and basic condiments. Appliances include a small portable electric heater, a stand-up fan, drip coffee maker, rice cooker, blender, and toaster.
Sheets, blankets, towels, and a starter supply of basic needs such as paper towels and toilet paper are provided.
